Testing and research catalytic processes

ARSKA Technologies offers solutions in testing of adsorbents and catalysts for compliance with manufacturer-declared parameters for the process. The aim of testing is to determine optimal parameters of the process.
Testing includes the following principle steps:
1. Testing of catalysts on the pilot units that imitate the reactor of a refinery plant.
2. Carrying out the analitical research of the raw feedstock components and the products of catalytic reaction.
 
3. Estimation optimal parameters of the process that would allow maximal product output.
In the research procedures of the catalyst properties and hydrocarbon mixture composition specialysts of ARSKA Technologies use the top analytical equipment  that provide high analysis precision and speed.

Pilot plant for the study of processes in the gas phase

The plant includes:

  • Reactor;

  • Feedstock electrical heater;

  • Condenser/Cooler;

  • Gas cylinder facilities;

  • Gas flow regulators;

  • MPC warning devices for hazardous gases;

  • Automatic sampling system;

  • Built-in exhaust system.

The process is controlled by an integrated automated process control system with the output of process parameters to the touch control panel and to the operator's workplace.

Process parameters:

  • design temperature - up to 400 °С;

  • design pressure - up to 3 MPa;

  • capacity - up to 100 l/h;

Examples of studied processes:

  • decomposition of hydrogen sulfide to obtain elemental sulfur;

  • processing of methane to produce hydrogen;

  • decomposition of carbon dioxide.

Pilot-scale mixing reactor unit

Process parameters:

  • 2 mixing vessels with a volume of 15 liters, equipped with electric heating with a capacity of up to 4 kW each;

  • working temperature - up to 500 ° С;

  • working pressure - up to 10 bar;

  • weight method for determining the mass balance for liquid products;

  • Coriolis flow meter on gas products.

 

Examples of the studied processes:

  • chemical processes using homogeneous catalysts;

  • pyrolysis and catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons;

  • polymerization processes; solvolysis, glycolysis, etc.

Pilot-scale fixed bed reactor unit

Process parameters:

  • 2 vertical reactors (inner diameter 30 mm and 50 mm);

  • catalyst bed height - from 50 mm to 1 meter;

  • the volume of the catalyst is from 50 ml to 1.5 liters;

  • feedstock consumption - from 60 ml to 1.2 liters per hour;

  • recycle flow consumption (if necessary) - from 60 ml to 2.4 liters per hour;

  • working temperature - up to 500 ° С;

  • working pressure - up to 60 bar;

  • automatic regulation of hydrogen supply (up to 50 g / h) and nitrogen (up to 260 g / h).

 

Examples of the studied processes:

  • catalytic hydroprocessing (hydrotreating, isomerization, reforming, alkylation, etc.);

  • thermal processes (pyrolysis, thermal cracking, catalytic cracking).

Pilot-scale unit for studying mass transfer processes

Process parameters:

  • distillation column up to 3 meters high;

  • bottom part of the column with a volume of up to 10 liters with electric heating with a power of 2 kW;

  • the number of theoretical plates - up to 30;

  • inner diameter - 50 mm;

  • type of packing - random;

  • working temperature - up to 500 ° С;

  • working pressure - up to 25 bar;

  • the ability to conduct the process in a continuous mode.

 

Examples of the studied processes:

  • fractionation, stabilization, distillation;

  • absorption processes; adsorption processes.
